The low US currency and the travel to cities not far from us, make it easy to consider a purchase from the US. We would like to take only a few minutes to explain to you some of the things you should consider.
A car is not an appliance and our Dealership will make any purchase and ownership experience, match the expectations you have from a brand as strong as Mercedes-Benz.

Canadian vehicle specifications
When Mercedes-Benz of Canada considers equipment on Mercedes-Benz and smart vehicles for the Canadian market, we select certain options and features, on a model-by-model basis, that we believe are best suited for Canada's challenging climatic and driving conditions. These may differ from equipment and options selected for vehicles distributed and sold in the U.S. market.
Customers might believe that the only real difference between Canadian and US vehicles relates to vehicle gauges (which are metric in Canada and imperial in the United States). Depending on the model, however, made-for-Canada Mercedes-Benz vehicles may include any or all of the following features:

• Heavy-duty heaters, batteries, and alternators;
• High capacity and heated window washer fluid reservoirs, lines and nozzles;
• Added paint chip protection;
• Block heaters;
• All-season tires;
• An outside temperature gauge;
• Heated mirrors;

A streamlined purchasing or leasing process
Only Made-for-Canada Mercedes-Benz and smart vehicles are eligible for new vehicle promotions, programs, and incentives offered by Mercedes-Benz Financial Services in Canada, including:

• Closed ended Lease Programs (you get to turn the car in at the end of the term)
• MB Canada supported Financing and leasing programs, with enhanced residuals and low rates,
• Lease Renewal,
• Multiple Security Deposits,

Tax/government considerations
New made-for-Canada Mercedes-Benz and smart vehicles may be eligible for certain incentives provided by the Canadian federal and/or certain provincial governments. These include:

• The federal ecoAuto rebate for fuel efficient vehicles;
• Provincial sales tax breaks and rebates for hybrid vehicles.

Vehicles purchased in the United States will not qualify for the federal eco-Auto rebate. However, some provincial rebates may still apply. The purchaser of a US vehicle, once imported into Canada, may still be subject to the following:

• Green Levy (previously known as Excise Tax) on fuel inefficient vehicles;
• Excise tax on fuel inefficient vehicles;
• GST and provincial sales tax;
• Import duties on vehicles built outside North America;
• Any costs to modify or retrofit a U.S. vehicle to ensure it complies with Canadian regulations (average cost $5,000)

Peace of mind benefits
Purchasing or leasing a made-for-Canada Mercedes-Benz vehicle includes peace of mind:

• The Mercedes-Benz Service Alternate Transportation Program is only available in Canada to owners of made-for-Canada Mercedes-Benz and smart vehicles;

Warranty/servicing benefits
Equipped-for-Canada vehicles have the following coverage not available to U.S. imports:

• 2 years / 40,000 km wear & tear, covering mainly brake pads, rotors as well as light bulbs.
• 5-year perforation corrosion coverage.
• Full battery coverage up to 4 years / 80,000 km (US vehicles are covered for 2 years / 40,000 km.
• ELW or Star Certified / pre-owned warranties will not be issued by MBC for US vehicles.
• Free service pick-up and delivery for S, SL, CL and G models from and to customer's residence or office.
• Mercedes-Benz Canada Inc. provides vehicle owners with Mercedes-Benz Roadside Assistance - 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year for four years.
• Dealer administered goodwill budget (DPA Customer Loyalty Budget) covers up to 7 years/150,000 km. U.S. vehicles are not eligible for extended warranties from Mercedes-Benz Canada.

very closely with its dealers to ensure that customers have the highest level of confidence, trust and
peace of mind when buying or leasing a Mercedes-Benz or smart product.
For the dealer, a sale to a local customer is the beginning of a long-term, loyal relationship; for the
customer, buying the car locally means a superior ownership experience. Customers are encouraged
to buy their car where they intend to service it, as they will benefit from local dealers' expertise on
Canadian-equipped cars and knowledge of Canadian support programs.

While a dealer decision, there is no certainty that dealers will accept US vehicles as trade-ins. If a
dealer refuses to take a U.S. import on trade, trade-in tax credit cannot be claimed on any
subsequent purchase.
